M.J. Rose, Author of The Halo Effect
Jul 7, 2004 at 09:43PM Question:
What is the most outrageous thing you've done to promote your book?
Answer:
Becoming
"Jane Gardner" and being my own publicist for my first novel was a
little nervy. So was making 1000 postcards for my third novel, Flesh
Tones and going to book stores and putting them inside other books that
I thought I shared an audience with. But I guess the most outrageous
thing was when I was almost run over by a horse and buggy in Central
Park. After getting knocked over, I finally got up, shaking and scared
to death and saw that the news truck from CBS had arrived. Somehow I
realized I should get myself interviewed over the incident so when they
asked me my name I could say - M.J. Rose - author of Lip Service. I did
it too. Not even aware I had a two inch long cut on my leg that was
bleeding through my slacks and needed stitching. Anything to get my
book in front of potential readers.
