Question:

How would you describe a good author-editor relationship?

Answer:

That's an enormous question, and I have a copyedit I have to go over.

Inadequate answers:

1. Complicated. Very complicated.

2. Not that complicated.

3. Every one of them is different.

4. I would describe it in such a way that if any of my authors read what I'd said, they'd feel reassured that their own relationship with me was better than that.

And now I have to go make books. Sorry about that.
